Mommy Cool: HELP!!!

OK,  so I need your help... I'm really undecided about what to wear at a wedding this coming Sunday, and I don't see eye to eye with Daddy Cool on this one. So, I would love it if you could help me out a little and let me know which outfit you like best.... Keep in mind that these photos were taken really quickly, that I'm no model and I really hate taking pictures (can't you see how uneasy I am?). Also, I will be adding some jewelry to the outfits, I'm currently not wearing any make-up, which I intend to do, and my hair needs some major loving.
Just below the post just click on the outfit you like the most: 1, 2, 3 or 4. I really appreciate this!!!!

Mommy Cool: wedding style!

photo via my PINTEREST
O.k. so I have a wedding coming up, and all the dresses I have, I have already worn and been seen in! I am guessing that this will be a pretty fancy wedding and my taste and my budget just don't match. So you might ask, what is your budget? It's pretty much nil! Then you might ask, why don't you make your own dress? Well, I never make anything for myself. Why? I'm never happy with what I make... But I have to say, daddy cool, got me an amazing japanese book called DRAPE DRAPE (you can find it on Ebay), and I'm really tempted to try and make something!

What do you wear at a wedding? Long, short, sparkly, basic, colorful, black, dress, pants... Well I created an inspiration board, my keywords are: sequins, gold, maxi, lace and drape... but I'll probably end up with something black!!!!
Any suggestions? Please help!!!! I think I might try to find or make something like this...

MOMMY COOL: Telle Mère, Telle Fille!

Sonial Rykiel
With Mother's day around the corner, I figured a week of MOMMY LOVE was just the right thing to do! Have you ever thought of dressing your daughter just like you? I am not a big fan of mother daughter outfits, but I have to say that once a year, on mother's day, it's just the cutest thing ever!!! I do wish I had half the wardrobe Miss E has, and if I ever had the same identical item of clothing as her, we would only wear it at the same time on Mother's Day!!!! But, what if the matching outfits were like the ones below... maybe then, I would make an exception!
Telle Mère (like mom) outfits on the left, Telle Fille (like daughter) outfits on the right.

Mommy green...

OSBOURN
So who says you have to look like a granny when you wear ethical clothing? I think I've showed you that kids can look fashionable in a sustainable way! So, how about us Mommies? Well, we too have quite the choice when it comes to dressing "green"...
First I want to share with you a Montreal brand, that tries to be green and has amazing styles, that are comfortable & easy to wear... COVET. They uses natural fibers such as Bamboo, Tencel, Organic Cotton & Linen for their collections, and although the clothing is manufactured in China, they personally make sure that the manufacturing is child labor free and that the workers have good conditions. Here are some of my favorite styles...

I also created a gallery of some items I love... all these items come from some really amazing websites that carry only eco-friendly designs: KIND BOUTIQUE, ASCENSION eco boutique, BEKLINA.

Oh my, I could keep on going... Ok! one last thing!
If you like bargains and sustainable goods, than this website is for you: PURE CITIZEN. So first you need to become a member (it's free), and then they you can shop, but watch out, the sales only last 72 Hours...They have new products every day from ethical fashions to organic beauty products, fair trade accessories, healthy home and much more...

P.S. Since so many of you seem to have been interested in this weeks theme, I decided that each time I talk about a sustainable product I will add a little green logo...

Mommy Cool: They call me Mellow Yellow...

I'm just mad about Saffron.

A-Saffron's mad about me.

I'm-a just mad about Saffron.
She's just mad about me.

They call me Mellow Yellow,
Quite rightly.
They call me Mellow Yellow,
Quite rightly.
They call me Mellow Yellow....
They used to call me Mellow Yellow... but since I have had kids, I am no longer Mellow Yellow... I am more like... Fluorescent high-strung Yellow!
Maybe it's the seelpless nights, that you just never get back, or the added responsibilities, or the constant watching over your back, the worrying, the whinning, the nagging, the crying...I can keep going! Where has my patience gone? Will I ever be Mellow Yellow again? Maybe I should wear more yellow, and that would rub off on me a little!  Perhaps this would be a great excuse for me to buy those yellow high top Reebok running shoes I saw the other day... Do you think Daddy Cool will fall for that!!!!Mellow Yellow

I'm just mad about Frontine.

A-Frontine's mad about me.

I'm-a just mad about-a Frontine.
A-She's just mad about me.

They call me Mellow Yellow.
They call me Mellow Yellow,
Quite rightly.
They call me Mellow Yellow.

Born-a high forever to fly.
Wind-a velocity nil.
Born-a high forever to fly.
If you want your cup, I will fill.

They call me Mellow Yellow,
Quite rightly.
They call me Mellow Yellow,
Quite rightly.
They call me Mellow Yellow.

So mellow yellow..

Electrical banana
Is gonna be a sudden craze.
Electrical banana
Is bound to be the very next phase.

They call it Mellow Yellow,
Quite rightly.
They call me Mellow Yellow,
Quite rightly.
They call me Mellow Yellow.

Saffron, yeah.
I'm just-a mad about her.
I'm-a just-a mad about-a Saffron.
She's just mad about me.

They call me Mellow Yellow,
Quite rightly.
They call me Mellow Yellow,
Quite rightly.
They call me Mellow Yellow.

Oh, so yellow..
Oh, so mellow..

Mommy Cool SATURDAYS: Bird's Eye View...

I've been thinking about what my nickname would be for the blog... and Mister M the other day said I was Mommy Cool. There you go, that made my decision pretty simple. I've never really been cool, I've had some cool friends and hung out in some cool place, but I've never been the "it "girl! So when my 3 year old thinks I'm cool, I'll take it! And how long will that last anyways... till he's 8? If, I'm lucky!!! Seriously, I've been in hibernation mode for the last 3 years, I feel so out of it, and so uncool, but I have to say that blogging has made me a little cooler, or so I think! With all the research I've been doing I've been discovering some awesome stuff and great website, and so Today I share with you two that I think are really COOL! You've probably already heard of them, but here is what I've been doing with them...

POLYVORE...
Bird's Eye View

Bird's Eye View by Petit à Petit featuring a feather ring
Polyvore, is a website that allows you to mix & match products from anywhere on the web to create your personal style, mood boards and collections. Here is my first attempt: Bird's eye view. Some great, bird related items, for the fashionable mom! If you go on the website, when you scroll over the items you will see where they are from and how much they cost. If you love fashion, you will love Polyvore, to be inspired by others and get inspired to make your own looks! Have fun...

PINTEREST...
Pininterest is similar to Polyvore... as they put it: "think of Pinterest as a virtual pinboard — a place where you can create collections of things you love and "follow" collections created by people with great taste". You can take images from anywhere on the web and archive them onto your boards, and what is really great is that it also saves the website link matching the item your saving. Just go check it out, go see my boards, and see what I like! For more bird related items check out my Wings and Things board: http://pinterest.com/celinab/wings-and-things/
Happy pinning!

Random Fridays: more sweatpants... this time for MOMS!

So I haven't been able to get the whole sweatpant thing out of my head! As I was doing the research for my boys will be boys tuesday post, what I didn't tell you is how this whole trend started. Really the trend started when Isabel Marant, up and coming french designer of the hip and cool, put a pair in her spring collection of 2010. And then every body followed... Have you heard of Garance Doré, she's a Parisan blogger and now trend setter. She first blogged about the Marant pants and then she went and did something "crazy"... she got herself a pair of sweatpants and cut them of at the knees matched it with a pair of heels, a striped shirt and a blazer. Now everybody has copied the look. Now what I am trying to say is, if you want to be the coolest and trendiest mom when you pick up your little one at daycare, go ahead and copy her, or all the other designers who have sweatpants in their collections. PLEASE give up your Lulu Lemons, get yourself a pair of american apparel sweatpants, cut them off at the knee and cuff them. But don't forget the heels and the blazer to complete look...
Here are a few designer look to inspire you.

Try this look for the whole family!
