This month for #pinandcreate we have chosen Celina's sunny side up pinterest board. I'm a big fan of eating eggs (in all ways) and love the motif itself because somehow, it lends itself to being happy! How can you not smile with a big 'ole yellow face looking back up at you? That was definitely the case in browsing this pinterest board with kawaii sunny side up eggs showcased in a variety of colors and patterns. I decided to design a simple pattern in multiple colors as a crafty printable. Notice the little eggies have a tiny happy face popping up here and there - cuteness, eh?

I didn't really have a specific DIY in mind when I created the designs. Instead, I just let myself go creatively to make whatever took fancy. I also created a poster printable with the lovely saying "life is meant to be lived sunny side up" - because I was in such a good mood working on this project!

With designs finished, I immediately printed out all the goodies because I knew that I had to create cute little paper notebooks from the pattern paper. It's just so happy inducing!

I printed the patterned designs on cardstock for a heavier cover and made them into little pocket notebooks - and I had to create them in all the colors, too. These little notebooks can slip in my purse for notes or I can give them as gifts, as well as let my kids ravage them up with their scribbles. You can visit my longstitch bookbinding tutorial on my blog if you need help with binding books, but you can definitely just staple or sew up the papers with your sewing machine to make it simple.

A few quick bookbinding tips:

- Prefold each piece of paper to make them nicely creased and fitted together
- The thicker the paper you use, the less pieces you should use together before it gets too bulky
- Prepunch holes if you are handsewing to make the process go smoothly
- Use binder clips to hold it all together when you are punching holes and sewing
- Trim your booklet after you are finished binding to get a finished clean edge

What will you and your kids create with this month's printables - sunny side up themed? Would love to see your creations, so don't forget to use hashtag #pinandcreate. All printables are high quality PDF files 12 inch by 12 inch, but you can print from home cropped or fit to size.

Remember to check out Toya's inspiration from the same pinterest board in her post yesterday - sunny side up - how cute is that outfit, right?!
