denim overalls

I am part of the Art Gallery Fabric's blog tour hosted by the ever so sweet and talented Karly of Paisley Roots. I just had to say yes to sewing with the new denim line: The Denim Studio. It was so hard to choose from the great variety the line has to offer, from linen blends to solids and prints, my head was spinning- I decide to go with the smooth denim in cool foliage. The fabric is just that: smooth and silky, it has a wonderful feel and hand. It is light weight and would be great for a shirt or dress and beautiful summery skirt.

When I heard I would be on the tour, I knew right away I wanted to make some overalls. When I told Karly about it, she asked me if I was making a pattern for them and that is how these Lover-alls became my next pattern. Since the fabric is quite fine, I decided to go with a short options and kept the details quite simple. I should have probably used some less heavy duty snaps. And it's a good thing I lined the top bodice, as well as used some fusing along the snap line. Live and learn. Also my local fabric store has very limited hardware and had to do with what I had. These overalls have a faux waistband, a cute little coin pocket and some rounded back pockets. I'll be sharing more details in the coming weeks about the Lover-alls and if you are interested in testing the pattern or just having the inside scoop be sure to join the Petit a Petit Patterns FB group

Here are some more detailed photos of the fabric and overalls...

MissE loves them and thinks they are so cool and comfortable, which is great because being cool is a big deal around here these days. They turned great for dancing and twirling. They will be perfect for summer and in the mean time we can layer them with tights or leggings, as well as tees and cardi's.

So many lovely items have been created with the new line of denim fabrics, you should have a look here:
