Hi I’m Kristi, I live in Philadelphia with my husband, two kids, and our cat Annin (who makes the occasional appearance on Instagram). I have been sewing since I was a kid, and knitting for many years. I am an architect by training and enjoy transferring my instruction writing skills from buildings to garments.  I design a small line of beginner friendly knitting patterns,  share lots of sewing tutorials, and blog about my family's hand made wardrobe at sweetkm.

The pixie bonnet is one of my signature knit pieces, and a look I come back to over and over again. I’ve designed a few different knit versions of this hat style, and written two pixie bonnet knitting patterns. I love the classic bonnet shape updated with current color and style choices. Let’s update the pixie bonnet one more time today with a quick sewn version.

This is the Blizzard Bonnet, named after the snow storm that just swept through Philadelphia. The wind howled on Saturday while I sewed up a few versions of this hat. When the sun cam out on Sunday our family was ready to climb snow drifts and throw snow balls. The storm hit just in time for me to put this little bonnet in it's appropriate context: 22" of snow. It's made with warm cotton flannel and lined with cozy sherpa fleece perfect for this freezing cold day.
