New Year. New Beginnings. New Goals. New Adventures.
There are a few things I want to do this year and one of them is to focus on me a little. As much as I love my kids and sewing for them, I feel like it is time I put a little focus on me. I studied fashion design to become a woman's wear designer and somewhere along the way I found a passion for children's wear. Don't get me wrong my passion still lies in the world of kids but I feel a change in the air. Maybe I am jealous of my kids wardrobe, I sew and spend more on their clothes than I do on mine. Maybe I feel like I've neglected me and my personal style. I feel like I had more swag a couple of years ago and I took way more risks with my wardrobe too.
I will be honest I never liked sewing for myself. Every time I wore something I made I felt like people looked at me weird and I dreaded getting ask "did you make that?". Not sure why, but I want to get past those insecurities and sew for me again.
So what better way than to host a sewing series (my first) with a great friend?
Hayley from Welcome To The House Mouse and I will be hosting a sewing series and sew along entitled Shades Of Me. We have a lovely group of amazing bloggers joining in on the fun and basically we are asking everyone to choose one colour and to come up with a monochromatic outfit.
Fun right?

Follow Celina Bailey's board inspiration... monochromatic on Pinterest.

I created a Pinterest board ( you can scroll through it right here ^^^) to get everyone inspired and I really hope you come and join in the fun. You can sew just one item and then style your outfit around it. The idea is to get you to think about yourself for a change… I know I will be sewing up a few shades of me! You can check out THIS Pinterest board if you would like to know what colour I am styling. It's a challenge in itself as I am used to wearing shades of black & grey, but I could really use some sunshine in my wardrobe.

Mark your calendars February 3rd to the 14th.

Come and add your photos to our Flick group. We will also have a link party and do a round up of our favorites. You can join in the fun on Instagram and use the hashtag #sewingshadesofme so we can follow your progress or maybe just your monochromatics look. We will also be putting together a Flipboard magazine with all of this in it.

Here is what the blog tour will look like… have a peek around in the mean time and get inspired by all these super talented ladies.
