So yesterday, I told you about how lucky I was and got a day all to myself during our two week vacation. We try to do this once in while, where I spend the day doing whatever pleases me... So here is how my little "day off" unrolled! First, my husband woke up with the kids and got them out of the house asap. I got to sleep inn, in a quite home! Then, I got up had my coffee nice and slowly, enjoyed every sip while still hot. I read all of my favorite blogs, uninterrupted! I took the longest shower & got ready, unhurried! By now it was around 1PM and so I took the bus and met up with my Lil' Sis in the Mile End. I have to say I really enjoyed taking the bus, I really enjoyed all the people watching... Once I got to the Mile End, one of our hip and happening little neighborhoods here in Montreal, my Lil' Sis' and I were pretty hungry, so we decided to head on over to Le Falco's, to our huge disappointment it was closed! I was really excited to try out this new japanese cafe, instead we had ourselves a yummy falafel at La Panthere Verte, a small vegetarian restaurant on St-Viateur. And then we walked along St-Laurent boulevard between St-Viateur and Laurier, two blocks, which took us a few hours to walk down! And here's what I discovered, some amazing Montreal shopping for the whole Family, but mostly for me!!!! I had wanted to chill in this part of town for a while now...

First we came across MONASTRIAKI, a gallery/shop full of surprises... check out their tumblr for some amazing pictures. I really liked their window display, the way they overlapped random posters was really creative. This would look amazing in my dinning or living room! I only wish I had charged by batteries, so I could have taken more pics... they didn't turn out so great! And I just discovered they host crafty Birthday Parties for Kids, so cool!

Then we passed by L'ARBRE Ébénisterie, they had the coolest bike rack/shelf holder for 100$...

A little further we discovered an awesome shop Boutique GEORGE and JANE. They carry some great fashion forward items for both men and woman. The shoes were out of this world and so was the rest of the collection... But what really attracted my eye was the "mini" Fjallraven backpack! How cool would Mister M look at daycare with this little number? Maybe I'll wait until he goes to primary school!!! Or maybe just get one for myself instead!!!
Oh, if your not from Montreal, you can shop online!

And so we kept going our little way and it wasn't long until we stopped again! This time we came across CITIZEN VINTAGE, a newly open shop with "la crème de crème" vintage finds. You no longer need to spend hours going through thousand of items to find that special vintage yet trendy piece in charity shops, the owners do the job for you and a great one at that... They even have a men's section! What more could you want? A kids section!!!!!

Not too far, we come across PHIL'Z 20th Century. This has been a long time favorite of mine... We got one of our vintage lamps from this shop a long long time ago!!! If you're looking for some vintage furniture, then this is the place to shop. This store is packed of one of kind treasures for every room in your house. My camera died at this point, but I came across this blog and they have great photos of Phil'z. I was able to snap this... How fun would this alphabet chest of drawers be in a kids room?

Then we crossed over to head over to one of our favorite shops, but first we came across this window at JAMAIS ASSEZ. This is a modern furniture and accessory store, they carry some cute brands such as Magis and we discovered this danish line Hay, which has some great colorful shelves... I wouldn't mind getting a few pieces from this store for my kids rooms, and to think of it, any other room in our apartment. We just need the budget now!!! Good thing my sister has an I-Phone, she was able to get this photo....

And last but not least... UNICORN. This store is simply inspiring, not only is the selection amazing, but so is the decor! They carry Montreal based designers as well as International ones. I particularly loved the accessories, the jewelry and bags were out of this world. Oh, and did I mention I got a pair of Swedish Hasbeens... Finally!!!
I was really excited to find out they had a small selection of children's clothing too! How cute are these leggings by Tamé? So cute I almost got Miss E a pair that would have been too small for her! Sorry for the quality of the pictures... check out their website or blog for more...

We then headed downtown and shop at Zara and Forever 21... My Lil'Sis' was looking for some pants and ended it up with a bunch of stuff... I got a top at Forever 21, so I could make Miss E some leggings inspired by the ones I saw at UNICORN, don't tell her it's going to be a birthday gift! I should have a tutorial on how to make these leggings in the coming weeks, so keep looking!
Later I went home, the children had already eaten and were ready for bed. I was happy to see my kids and my hubby, but it surely felt good to get away and not think about changing diapers and cooking for once... Thank you Daddy Cool, you're simply the best!
