Let me first get a little "woohoo" out of my system. I´m over the moon for being a contributor for Celina´s Petit a Petit family and will be sharing some of my excitment in an inspirational way.
I´m Andreia, a portuguese math/science teacher, mother of two, and I discovered the pleasure of sewing a few years ago. My purpose then was to try and make some things for my kids and give my wallet a rest while filling their wardrobes. This soon grew into a pure passion for the making I now share at my blog, In a manner of sewing.

Making and crafting has always had a strong presence throughout my life. My father is one of those handy men who can easily make kitchen cabinets as he´s fixing my pc plug. Though we might not share the same interests, this love of his for the "know how" grew in me and has made me into a curious person regarding everything handmade.

In adittion, arts and culture have always been of great interest to me. Some people blame it on my left handed brain as it has a tendency for everything artsy. Whatever it is, it has brought me here and hopefully you´ll enjoy following.

I discovered Szoke´s artworks on one of those days you´re just browsing thru the internet and was immediately drawn to it, it´s impossible to be indiferent. He has done an impressive variety of animal shaped sculptures in massive sizes and it got me thinking how would they look like if they could actually move. I imagined those steel and wood bars flowing and being light as the animals ran, which brought me to fringes and, eventually, to the little pouch bag I´m showing today, ha! Crazy little thing called brain.

So, what you will need for your super cool boho SZOKE bag:

  • Pattern HERE
  • 70cm of faux leather / canvas
  • 70cm lining
  • 70cm interfacing (I recommend interfacing all the main pieces or interlining)
  • Jersey strips
  • 8 grommets

Easy peasy. You can easily alter this and use faux leather instead of the jersey strips and make a cool one for you too. For the straps I braided 3 long jersey strips and are around 1,5m long, but you can use rope or anything your creative mind can think of.

Once you handle it to your little girl be prepared for an avalanche of hugs and kisses and all the twirling with it! It´s got a good size for all the bits and pieces they like to carry and even a small book.

And here are a few of our favourite things that were used for the styling. I´m not including the "My little Pony" doll that was inside the bag, ha!
